A couple of times I was on the way to doing that, but recovered in time. It all comes from believing the customer when they said that they had shut off the system supply valve.

It's a little hard to connect with the water on but a pump start relay can get you. I learned a long time ago to disconnect them before blowing out.

Good topic. How many of you guys disconnect the p/MV terminal in the clock when doing blow out? I always do because pump breakers are frequently not accessible and I don't want any one turning the pump on over the winter by accident.

I've also done that with some old systems that have an indoor master valve on city water in combination with a leaking system shut-off.

Anyone keep a ball valve at the end of their hose?

    I love mine.
It's also saved my butt when the h.o "turned off the water" or breaker .

I always activate system just to make sure things are off

Also taking p/mv out at times is a standard practice.

i had a pump running while i was blowing it out once. blew on a zone for a good 10 minutes before i remembered to shut off the second pump.

i've since trained my boys to turn off water and turn on zone before even connecting the hose. this prevents loading up a closed main, and also gives you one last look in case anything is screwy
