    All,

I just purchase a new holland ls 160, Who makes the NH engine for this thing? I read that Linamar makes the smaller skid steer engines but all I can find on this engine is N844.

    do they make their own?

Highly doubtful that NH makes its own engines. Most likely it is an association with Cummins. I'll try to get back to this one when I have a little more time.

Actually, New Holland makes their own engines for their skid steers.

I wonder why they don't use them in their tractors? Thanks for the info.

They are a spin off of Ford industrial diesels. For years Ford made the 38HP gassers that powered Bobcat, and they make quite a few generator engines as well.
