I've got a 23 hp air cooled engine in the shop for repairs. It has several oil leaks. It may cost upwards of $1500 to pull the engine replace the gaskets and such to repair it. May be only a couple hundred more to just replace the engine with a new one. Any opinions as to which may be the better choice?
The engine is on my backup machine a 52" Great Dane Super Surfer. It still has maybe 3 years of life left in it for me if it had a good engine.

You Would Be Much Better Off To Invest In A New Engine Than Spend 1500 On Your Existing Engine. With A New Engine You Will Get Another 2 Yr Warranty.

For that price definatley get a new one, but did you consider doing the repairs yourself and spending money on the gaskets only?
