Just seeing if anyone has ever had the mesh replace on the rear drop gate of their trailer. My Scag is definitely too much weight for the gate to handle and over time the welds have come undone and the other day as i was backing down the gate my tires actually fell through. Im gonna try and just throw some plywood over the gate for now as a simple fix but really want to get some new mesh put on. Any idea on price??? As thinking about having a couple supports welded in between the space to add extra support.

A 5' by 4' piece of galvanized expanded metal from this manufacturer costs less than $30.

There is several different gauges of expanded metal. I would not trust that stuff to be very thick. Find a local steel supplier and ask them.

I had my gate expanded, mesh repaired, and extra braces added. It cost me $200 matls. and labor.

Make sure you weld the mesh in every possible place along the edges and it will be much stronger, even the thin stuff from the factory.

400 for new mesh and maybe 4ft of extra angle framing added & painted. This guy was a little high I think. 300 sounds about right for this.

Geez, they are all pretty high to me! Around here, a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 #9 expanded steel, is about $40. and that gauge will handle some heavy weight no problem! Even had a huge outfront on it, and not even any sagging, but it all depends on supports too.
