    I need a new self-propelled mower.
I'm looking at the Honda HRR216VKA from HD (21 in. Steel Deck Smart Drive Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Mower)

    or

Toro 20371/20332/20333 (same mower, just different features)

Should I get the "bottom of the line" Honda or the Toro?

I'm leaning towards Honda, just want some other opinions.

I have about a half acre, but not all is grass.

I've used both of them. My mother in law has that Toro. It's ok.

I was mowing for a lawn care pro that had that Honda. The Honda is all over the top of that Toro. The variable speed Smart Drive is nice and easy to use because it's on top of the handle where I could adjust the position to an angle to use the heel of my hand. Makes a difference in comfort. Both engines start easy, but that Honda has more pony's. The double blades on the Honda mows so much better. Mulches better. And bags goods. All and all a better mower. If I ever save enough money I'm going to buy me a Honda. Fact is I'm going to use the Toro today. I wish it was the Honda!

I have both and they both do well. My guys nor me hardly use them. I would say this.

    Dependability- the Honda.

Cut quality and ease of use- toro.

    My .02 worth.

Thanks. I've heard good things about both...Honda is offering an extra year of warranty if I buy by Thursday, but would hope to never need it....

went to look at the mowers tonight, planning to buy the Honda....
Now I think I'm leaning towards the Toro.

    Bigger (21" vs 22")
    190cc vs 160cc
    Brake stop
    longer warranty
    a little cheaper

Now I'm totally confused! I know everyone will have their own opinion and some good reviews, some bad...
I just need to pick one and go buy it!

You won't regret getting the toro. Self propel system will last longer. The Honda hrr tenants are terrible.

I just don't see it! That Honda is all over the top of that Toro! Just in cut alone the Honda has 2 mulching blades. The Toro leave a trail of mulch strips behind. Bagging again, the Honda does a better job. The Toro has an outlet on the side for side discharge, and in the rear for bagging. The Honda only has the rear discharge for bagging, and does have a discharge chute that can be used out the rear that I've never used. Than too a Briggs engine over a Honda?

I'll be using the Toro before the weekend is over. But I sure wished it was the Honda.

I think during the night I talked myself back into the Honda. I can't really go wrong with either, I just need to pick one!!

Purchase the Honda and I do not believe in a year or two you will look back and wish you chose the Toro. I have owned a Honda for more than 10 years and it will start on the second pull. If you take care of your mower it will last and last!

Good luck on your final decision!
