Thought you needed to keep new sod wet?

Looks like the sod was rolled out after installed?, is there much soil attached to the root system on the brown sod?

I would say there was .5" of soil on the rolls of sod that was laid

Once a day, later in the morning is fine. Watering Twice a day may create a fungus problem.

Sod here in SW Florida needs only 1/2" per day. How long it would take to measure 1/2" into say a soup can can only be judged by trying your self.

Assuming that the sod was also rolled when instaledl to give good sod to soil contact and eliminate any air pockets, then the sod should have had a good drink immediately after install and then it's just a case of ensuring the soil underneath and the sod is moist and not saturated. I'd be leaning more towrds the fact that the sod has been overwatered, based on what you say and what I can see in one or two of the photos. Overwatering can be just as much of an issue as underwatering during the initial establishment phase. Also, if the sod was of vaying freshness when they were delivered then this wouldn't have helped.

They rolled it. I think we got some old sod, because I have some sod thriving right next to a dead roll

Water, fungus, soil conditions do not have clear lines like that. The more I look the more I feel my opinion is correct. Were those rolls all on the same truck?
