    Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and new to the forum. [/I]I am a web designer by profession and have been runing my own business for the last 3 years. I have gotten an interest in starting a lawn care business for the last few months and have finally gotten to where I am about to start advertising.

I have a few questions for those who have done it for a few weeks and would like your honest opinion

    1. is it too late to start getting accounts seeing as the summer is comming to an end?
    2. is there a better way out there t get business other that going out door to door and handing out the flyers?
    3. what is the best software out there that I can useto keep up with my clients, of can I just use quickbooks which I have used for years with my web design business?

Please help m out I am willing to learn and I understand to have a business that makes you money you have to put your all into it.

    Welcome to lawnsite!!!:waving:

Yes I think it is getting a little late for picking up much work but it still can be done. Just start spreading the word around and hanging up a few fliers. I would not go door to door until early next spring.Get your business in the yellow pages asap. Your quickbooks will work just fine until you grow. GOOD LUCK!!:)

It sure can't hurt anything. I would give it a try and even hang some flyer's up in grocery stores etc....

It's funny you would think that you can not pick up work/accounts in the off season, but I have had more luck in the past winters than ever. The season starts out with 1000 new trucks running around and about this time of year a lot of them are gone. So that "leafs" you some work to do. Clean roofs, leaf cleanups, winter rye, ground cover and much more. So don't wait till the spring to start advertising get a jump on it now. I suggest Beauty salons, Tanning Salons, Fitness clubs and any place that women hang out. 99% of my customers are women so thats what I do. Good Luck! Greg
