I know somewhere here someone mentioned the E-Myth book by Michael Gerber. I read it about a year ago and it is great. They have a new (I believe it's new) book focusing on contractors. It is The E-Myth Contractor - Why Most Contractors' Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It. I ordered it from Amazon and now have it but no time to read it. Hopefully will start this weekend. Anybody read this version yet?

I read it last year and will read it again soon. Great book. Has anyone else read it and implemented any ideas? I would like to start using his methods next year.

I have lived the e-myth in the software business for the last few years and have been pretty successful with it. I haven't read the Contractor book yet, but I'm going to right now......

I'm a true believer in Gerber's methods and logic, I can't wait to see his take on the contracting business.

Here is a great quote from the book. You can read the first chapter here.

"That Fatal Assumption is: if you understand the technical work of a business, you understand a business that does that technical work.

And the reason it's fatal is that it just isn't true.

In fact, it's the root cause of most small business failures!

The technical work of a business and a business that does that technical work are two totally different things!

But the technician who starts a business fails to see this."
