I've done the direct mailers, physically hanging door flyers, advertising in local events and now it's time to go for the newspaper for hopefully more results.

Would you please attach or e-mail me some of your pre-season or season starter adds you've ran in the newspaper . So I can create one that has worked for others in the past.

    Thanks all help is appreciated.

Dollar for dollar....I think that the newspaper ads work best for me. I don't advertise mowing...too scattered. Just the extras....scalping, overseeding, aerating, leaf cleanups....etc....
I just do the three lines.....or combine the first 2 into 1 large one.
Here in a few weeks I will have one that reads

large print and bold "FREE WINTERIZER"
smaller print "with leaf removal 312-1223"
Hoping to score big with that one. Winterizer only cost like $10 for 15,000 sq ft lawn. That would be an extremely large lawn around here and probably cost $150 to remove the leaves.

    Good luck

I've never had much luck with the newspaper. Usually a waste of money for me.

    Good luck.

I have great results with newspaper ads. My local paper has a Service Directory, I can run a 4 line ad for a month for around $100. My phone rings off the hook everytime I run it. I am starting it this weekend for clean-ups.

My local paper also runs a Service Directory and costs about the same as what LB Landscaping said.

I did one for 7 lines, ran 28 days, cost me $175 and I guess I averaged about one call per day. Not too bad, but not as good as I had hoped for. Of course this was in mid summer. Timing wasn't the best.
I think I'll have better luck when I run one again for fall clean ups (hopefully get it in there next week or so).

And I'll run it again in early spring provided they're still running the special on pricing. I think it'll do better then.

gogetter, I usually run my in early spring and fall, like I said I get a ton of work out of them. I get a few new customers for the season and a ton of clean-ups. A buddy of mine ran an ad in late summer and got like 2 calls so timing definately makes a difference.

    Hi Hortboy,

Here is a post that has a newspaper add attached to it.
