I thought I read this somewhere but can't find it now, but why did Chevrolet stop making the 1500HD?

the 1500HD was almost the same as a 2500, same 6.0L V8, and same tranny, with the same towing capacity.

they shouldnt. there was no point to any of that. and they did that stuff early in the body style change years. theres only a need for 1500, 2500hd, and 3500.

So do you think they will drop the HD title? I dont understand why they have it. What year did they offer the 2500 and the 2500HD? Arent they one and the same?

We have an '00 GMC 2500 that isn't technically an HD model. The previous owner beefed it up a little with some heavier leafs for throwing a camper on it, but there is no "HD" stamp on the truck.

somewhat. the 2500hd is the real 3/4 ton. the 2500 is like the old heavy half ton. they had them from 2000-02. when they went to the slant head light design thats when i think the 1500hd's went away. actually the 1500hd and the 2500 were the same thing. very confusing when they did this. they were obviously tryin something different, and i dont think it went over as well as they wanted. i think i got that right...ha!

the 2500hd had the 9200 GVWR whereas the old 2500 had the 8600GVWR or something close to that
