Non compete agreements

    Anyone have any non compete agreements for their employees to sign? I'd like to hire someone but don't want him to leave to start his own company after one year. I'd like him to sign a 3-5 year agreement. If you have one of these forms, I'd like to see it, thanks.

    Yes they are , many will respect and honor them .
    Have you ever been threated with a law suit , it's scary ?

    Ive signed more than my share over the years when working for other companies.

    They are limited in scope. They can not stop you from starting your own business, but they can make a stink if you imediately start servicing some of their clients but generally wont.

    Most are only written for one year.

    Its still a free country last I checked.

    Ask an attorney....they will tell you the same thing.

    Correct, most states don't recognize non compete agreements. This is especially true in a state that has right-to-work laws.

    Just hire some mexicans that come here "just to work" seasonal you know. Most of these guys don't speak alot of english, so I would find it very hard for them to take any good accounts from me.

    Yes sir...they are the only ones that will work at my pace, the white boys and black boys aren't consistant.

    I think a lot of people miss golden opportunities. If you have a guy that is capable of doing his own thing help him. I'm sure we all remember going out on our own for the first time, very uneasy times. If you can sell more work give him a portion of yours and you do the paperwork part that no one likes. He buys his own equip you can help him, sell him your used stuff pay him a piece price and do the billing take his insurance payment from his check and pay it, pay all his business related bills with his money. That way you make a guaranteed profit, how much longer will it take to do his billing or write a couple of extra checks you are already set up for it, and its all Greek to him. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone to cover for you if you get sick or just need a day or two off, sell that to him too it works both ways. He makes more money (which is all he really wants to do) your co. grows and you make a % of something instead of all of nothing, which is what you get when he leaves. There may come time in the future when he eventually leaves but in the mean time you have made some $$ fostered a lot of good will, picked up more clients, and significantly increased your Karma savings account. You get enough of those guys working you could just sit back like Mac and collect checks.
