I went to look at a lawn today that I had talked to the customer about doing some lawn repairs on a couple weeks ago. They emailed me saying they want it done along with some other stuff. I just needed to take another look at it now that it's begun growing and to decide how much top soil I need to bring in. I pull up and see a few brown patches and then I walked the whole lawn. They're all over the place, there has to be 50 of them!! It's obvious they were trying to kill weeds and clover. I mean it looks bad! Some are only about 6 inches in diameter but others are 3 or 4 feet across. Why do customers do this? This isn't the first customer I've seen do this.

I'm going there to do repairs anyway so I'll just take care of all of it while I'm there. More money for me, lol. I'll have to check with them to see what they used but I suspect it was roundout. Hopefully it's not something with residual toxicity.

It just amazes me people do this. I have a lady that does this every year. She tells me that she just doesnt understand how they can make something that will only kill the weeds and not the grass. She cracks me up saying "how does it know not to kill the grass." So she just uses round up. I told her it is fine just dont spray more than a couple inches in diameter rather than argue with her about it.

The funny thing is that I repaired areas of the lawn last week, including the Round Up areas and yesterday I rented a sod cutter and cut out and disposed of about 500 square feet of sod for some landscape bed extentions.

FYI - You can buy your Grass Stitcher at any John Deere Landscape service center, if you don't see them in the store ask them to order some.

I love it when customers spray roundup on their lawn.lol One of my customers had his son spray roundup over the whole lawn for broadleaf weed control and another customer had their father spot spray roundup for broadleafs. I get at least two of these type jobs a year. They are nice moneymaker$$$$:clapping:

I don't have a customer that does that but the guy across the street from me is very liberal in his roundup spot spraying. Has dead spots everywhere. He also will dig up, with a shovel, any larger weeds he finds in his lawn. He has little holes everywhere to go with his dead patches.

My neighbor that I mow for every now and then had a local lawn care/fertilizer company kill pretty much their whole lawn. They claimed to have put down a pesticide, but within a couple days the whole back yard was dead and quite a few spots in the front lawn.

Since then, the lawn has never really come back as nice.
