What options are available for getting pallets of sod into areas with tight clearance? Think along the lines of immovable obstacles with 4'6" between them. Is there a special "pallet trailer" that can pick 2000# and set it down elsewhere?

The wheelbarrow option really kills a lot of time on some jobs.
A lot of side yards do not have the room to pass a skid-steer capable of lifting full pallet.

Is there something along the lines of a warehouse pallet jack for off road use?

It is only six trips with a regular wheel barrow per pallet. There ain't much that is going to bring a pallet of sod through a 52" gate. The spider on the truck won't because the wheels are outside of the pallet to keep the weight centered.

I would advise to price accordingly and use the wheelbarrow.

There is a off road pallet jack that has big solid rubber tires on the out side instead of underneath it. Go to northerntool.com, then material handling, its in there somewhere. they are kinda expensive and shipping is a killer but at least you know one is out there. But for just one job, its not cost efficeint.

I'll bet there's something out there that suits you needs, maybe not you pocket though.

A gas powered wheel borrow would be good or may it can be modified to fit a pallet?
    My 2 cents.
