So how goes the sales in your area? We are now 1/2 way through the year and in the midst of the 'high season' for outdoor lighting installations.

Please take a min and fill in the brief survey.

I suspect there will be some interesting regional differences still. Things appear to be stable or recovering in the North East and yet the South seems to still be struggling to find recovery mode. I am not sure why this is.

I will be the first. Mine sucks.... Now I will say I have not pushed as hard as I did in the past. But just in what I do have the same customers are NOT spending much at all. Atleast here anyway.

For those of you that are down from 2008 you are not alone. The AVERAGE (not all but the aggregate) manu is down close to 50% from 2007. Which means on average so is the industry... if you are beating that you are doing a good job.

my sales are totally in the crapper for lighting...i'm sooooo glad i started doing irrigation last year or else i'd be livin in a box. on a brighter note, when counting irrigation my sales as of this week have officially passed sales for ALL of 2008..and its only July :)

    I take offense to that.

Every business is slow, staff cut down, service okay but no growth. I sold my part-time landscaping biz quickly/easily to a furloughed worker. The southeast has been tough for contractors.

As I mentioned here, I am falling back on my previous work experience but will be keeping my feet wet. Or frozen. Whichever comes first.

Taking sleepy's advice and doing some fishing and hunting in the near future. I just bought some bear protection for fishing: .460 smith & wesson.

The only downside is that I will have to drive through Canada for a few days (yawn!) to get to AK.

    Good luck, everyone!

Our sales are down (not by much) but overall our other numbers are up from this time last year. We made the decision at the beginning of the year to cut out all forms of advertising, and that has helped our overall numbers greatly this year. Also for some reason, although the number of jobs are down the number of installed fixtures are up.

Definately hasn't been a stellar year, but not even close to as bad as we were expecting.
