Just purchased a home this year and the back yard needs some work!!

The previous owner had a septic field replaced, covered it with dirt, and just let whatever weeds there grow!!

Looking for some advice on the proper way to overseed this. I've been told by some to just aerate it to death then broadcast spread some seed on top. Others say to use a seeder, etc, then fertilize.

Since this is my OWN LAWN, I'm looking for some good advice on the proper way to do it. What needs done, and in what order?

You can spray round up to kill the weeds then thatch it then rake it out seed, fert, and water . Then sit back and go da$# that looks good.
