i used an overseeder i rented from home depot yesterday. My question is do you rake the dead grass that was brought up ftom overseeding or do you just let it lay there until your able to cut again?

If the overseeder is bringing up a lot of thatch you need to dethatch first and then overseed. This can be done with the same machine. It should be obvious to you not to fill the hopper when using it as a dethatcher.

When I do slit seeding, if it is a lot of thatch, I will try to get it up.
I think a lot of thatch would hinder the new seeds and grass from growing. I cut it low before I slit seed and this helps, but sometimes there is a lot of that crap left when I am done..
