In the market for a new trailer and wanted to get opinions on whats best, powder coating or paint as far as being better for protection against rust and such. Thanks

All depends on how applied and who does it. Powder coating is not the do all, end all as it will chip. As long as there are no scratches that go to the metal, you're ok. Then you have to touchup with paint quickly if it does. Most places powder coat over steel without sand blasting. A trailer that is blasted and then painted will be easier to maintain.

The best would be something called rust bullet. With bedliner on top of it.

The most economical would be gloss black $1 can walmart paint. Touch up scratches often.
