I have a palm tree in my front lawn that has all the hairy fibers that grow out. I think birds or squirrels are pulling all the hair off the trunk to make nests. They leave the bare frond base showing. Is this dangerous to the palm tree and if so how can I stop them? Thanks for any help.

Not a problem. True palms grow from a heart in the center of the tree. Unlike most trees that have layers of fluid running under the bark. You should not see any decline unless the damage allows borers to get in.

    Good luck
