Doing one last run down on the equipment before heading out to mow in a few days. While checking the trailer lights I noticed everything work fine accept the parking lights on the tail lights of the trailer, bulbs are fine and come on with turn signals and brake lights. When I turn on the parking lights in the truck the marker lights on the trailer turn on but the tail lights just for the parking lights do not work. Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?

You do have some marker lights working?

If so and the bulbs are good--are you sure, as in tried new ones--and the wiring is good, you have a bad ground.

Now that you mention it I would think it is a bad ground. Notice that if the trailer is not hooked up to the truck nothing works. Any idea on how to check the ground. Would it be on the truck or trailer?
Yes marker lights work well, brake lights work, turn signals work, but no parking lights on the tail lights.

Wire brush the hitch insert--inside and out--possibly the ball itself as well as to the best of your ability the inside of the hitch, trailer side.

Then spray all liberally with Fluid Film.

Most of the time the ground is through the ball\hitch. Some rust is built up over the winter and until it is worn off or knocked off by some rough roads, you don't have a good ground.

I remedied this annual issue by running a separate ground wire from the trailer frame through the plug to the truck frame. Royal PITA screwing with this every year otherwise.

Was thinking of splitting the one wire back by the tail light in two Run one wire into the light and the other wire wrap it around the bolt holding the light on. Just wondering if I will blow up anything?
