Been thinking about picking up a block splitter, tired of wasting to much time splitting by hand.
Anyone have a Block Shear splitter? Which one?
From what i have researched here and other places they are built like tanks and work really well.

Does it cost more than $500?

If so, you can buy a 3pt log splitter from tractor supply for $900.

We finally bought a block spliter this spring and really saves time and have better splits than by hand. I had always thought oh it just as easy to do it by hand and so much cheaper but it also saves on block when it doesn't break in the wrong spot sometimes with caps or get large bubbles. We got the Kracker from our block supplier. It was about $900 and is so durable. It does weigh quite a bit, maybe 200lbs.

Wow I just looked those up, they are expensive! We have 3 Krackers. We really like them.

Here is a video of me using one of ours a while back. Splitting a 6" step block. Kind of shows you how it works.

Thought about getting the Block Shear because it is much more robust than the Kracker or others i've seen. Plus they have a model that is 40,000 psi and will do block, pavers, and stone.

i have the pavetech splitter. The unit that does pavers and wall block. Its a lot quicker than the kracker and fewer moving parts. Its probably more expensive too. It was about $1300 when I bought it several years ago. Very handy.
