I recently got my license and in addition for working for my small but established company, I am going to be working for a buddy of mine who owns a larger company. I will be going out on my own, and i have been working under his supervision the last year so I'm not totally new this aspect of the biz. I am wondering what is the average hourly rate for a technician in the KC area or mid west region. Im thinking $16 or $17 an hour, am i close or what. thanks

that much? if that is true i wanna move out there. with 10+ years of experience where i live (atlanta) most companies still want to pay minimum wage... mabee 10 to 12 an hour if you go to trugreen. they would rather get someone in that doesn't know nothing because its cheap labor, which turns into a revolving door of employees.

You can also look at the DOL for labor rates in your area too.

This is a funny business. Some companies will want to start you out at $7 and others will offer you $16 without blinking an eye.
Even with my small company....I could not embarass some grown man by offering him less than $10. Certified and licensed? Sure that's worth more money.

Atlanta area here, my 2 techs make $17 an hour salary. They do well and I pay them well.

You will always get what you pay for. If you want someone to stay awhile, make it worth their while. Atlanta area is all over the place in terms of pricing. Incentives are always a good start for techs. I would pay for them to take the pesticide test and once completed pay him a few bucks more an hour, maybe 14 bucks and hour. Needs to be doing 800 dollars a day in production to make 14 though. I'd give him a 75 cent raise every year, maybe more.
