do you pay your workers for time spent traveling in the work truck from job to job or do you only pay them for the time they actually do work? assuming you pay them like a normal work day, 9 to 5 or whatever, just curious because I can see myself spending a lot of time just in traffic where I live, it kind of sucks to have to pay for that

Uhhhmmm, yeah, workers get "paid" for all the "time" they spend working for you.

thats a good question I work in 4 different cities all about 20 miles apart and I have thought the same thing.... I dont pay when picking them up only if they drive to the shop..... but after the first yard or job clock keeps ticking and same goes for on there way home

See the thing is they can just start taking their sweet time at the job site to make up for it lol. And I know where you're coming from but the easiest way out of this tiffy is to pay less / hour to begin with thou your current workers likely won't go for that.

You could be like quota based...

Don't do commission lol but I think quotas would be all right.
So many jobs / day have to be done, in a certain amount of time.
Then on any 8 hour day so long the quota is met, who cares?

    just my 2

Just got an idea, figure out a way to put an hour meter on them and pay them by the clock!

If you tried this with me I would want to know precisely how your equipment was going to get itself over to the jobsite. Because I wouldn't be doing it if I was going from place to place for free.
