We do everything by the book, pay taxes, payroll etc. Have hired nothing but local guys and the process was simple. Social Security Card etc. I have an opportunity to hire a legal Alien and am not sure how to go about the process. Do they have an SSN if so I guess it would be the same, if not how do we deduct their taxes and such from their checks? Any help appreciated.

Any legal alien authorized to work in the county is issued a SSN #. Those that have worked for me and have applied for their SSN #'s, but don't have them yet, don't get a check from me until they have their number.

Just as Wolfpack said... it's the same process as with any other employee.
