I have an old Snapper belt drive walk behind. Keep it around as a spare for our hydros. Noticed this year that the tranny is getting pretty sloppy. It is a peerless 700-050. I have noticed many other trannies that appear the same and have the same spline count and double output but different model numbers on ebay for low cost. Are the cases the same? Would it bolt up? I am not so worried about ratios. Could one of these work or should I just get an original for $250.00?

The case will be the same and as long as you match your spline count 32 spline(fine spline) or 9 spline(heavy duty) older trans only had 4 speeds most now are 5 speed, but some of the newest 9 spline trans also require a larger trans pulley depending on the manufacture. Good luck:)

Thanks. I have the fine spline and it is a 5 speed. Not so concerned about 4-5 speed if I can find one that will work. As I said it is a very seldom used spare but it is nice to have.
