I am building a Pergola that will be attached to the house. What is the preferred method when attaching to a house with Vinyl siding. Install the ledger overtop of the siding or remove the siding, attach the ledger and recase around it?

    Thanks

Cut the siding out and attach directly to structure. Be sure to use flashing.

Why would you assume that. Since im a homeowner I must not know what im doing right?

Anyway, I did get a permit but that really does not mean anything. They dont come inspect it so whats the point.

I went with anchors in the concrete and it turned out well. 15x14 using 6x6, working on the electrical now so I can add some lighting.

Thank you PaperCutter and baddboygeorge for good advice.
