i have the Magnum, what the easy-est way to replace the recoil string?
unbelievable the way they designed the frame around the motor without thinking...."what if the coil spring or pull rope needs replacing?"
i hope there is an easier way but it looks like you gonna have to pull the motor?
You have to remove three of engine mounting bolts and turn the engine to remove the recoil. My recoil spring broke last year while under warranty. I started to replace it and gave up. Took it to the Lesco dealer he it back in a day or two. I am glad I gave up.
I replaced mine about a month ago, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! just take out 3 of the bolts on the engine base leaving the inside front bolt, then you can turn the engine at a angle and take off the pull start. I took the bolts on the starter off before unbolting the engine. took about 1/2 hr. about 1" more clearance would have made this a 5 min job.
