I just replace 5 valves in a row. Some of the valves flow in one direction and others flow in the opposite direction. Why the original installer did this i do not know. I think I may have installed one of the valves in the wrong direction. If I did would that cause the valve not to shut off and make the zone remain on all the time. I have never had this happen before any help is appreciated.

If you installed the valve backwards, it should be making a hell of a noise.

A PGP installed as a valve will never shut off.

    To the OP .

There's many possible reasons for it being stuck open. Installing the valve backwards is one of them.

dig up the piping around the valve to see which is the main line side

Or you can take the valve apart and turn the water on- seeing the flow .

Thanks I will check it today I still can not figure out why you would alternate the flow direction on the original install.

  10. Something tells me you are chasing a rabbit down a hole and have done a bunch of work that may not have been necessary.

    How old is this install?
    Was it working before?
You can't alternate the flow direction of the water. Are you referring to the valve being installed backwards? And if so how did you come to that conclusion?
Is this the valve you are referring to?
