pine straw coverage

    Hey guys i did a search and did not find what i am looking for. About how much area will a bale of pine straw cover. I can noramlly just look at an area and tell how many i need but i am bidding a really big job and have my square footage and don;t want to shoot myself in the foot and bid to low. Thanks for the helps guys

    Two bales will cover a area 10x10, 3" thick.

    it really depends on the type of bail, if it is box bailed it will cover about 30sq.ft. if it is machine bailed it will cover 50 sq.ft. both at 3" depth.

    I use a standard 160 bales/ 1 acre fiqure, I've never come up short!

    On bare soil we figure 50 sq.ft. per bale. Can sometimes get a little more but this is the figure we use.

    Somewhere on the NCSU site is a scale of how many sq ft a bale will cover at different depths. Cant recall it right now but I will search later.
