I get my shrub liners from Van Essen in Oregon. Perennial liners come from Pioneer Gardens in Deerfield, MA. We grow both shrubs and perennials with a combo of slow release and liquid fertilizer (through a Dosatron attached to the irrigation system). Perennials take about 3-6 months to finish in a one gallon container, but the shrubs are newer to us and they are slower and more difficult to grow. I think we are not fertilizing correctly, probably being too conservative because it has taken at least two seasons to finish liners in a two gallon pot. And yes weeds are a problem with the shrubs due to the long finishing times. I would also like some ideas on that!!
