Need some help identifying this and need to know if there is any alternative to digging it up and reseeding - located in wisconsin if that helps at all.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Tall Fescue!
Clumping variety as this is how it grows here!
    Sulfuron chemicals are useful.
Digging this stuff out is going to be a chore. The roots are usually deep and you will need to get out a much as possible and replace the areas with more soil and reseed when season allows in your area.
Down South, I use Image and MSMA to control and knock this stuff out. Do not use this on cool season grass. When the temps are 100 here, the stuff dies out....

Sulfurons will do the job in cool season grasses, they will also convert the lawn to 100% Kentucky blue grass. Ryegrasses and fescues are killed by most sulfonlyurea herbicides.

Certainty or Corsair. Are you sure you want to kill everything but the KBG. To a warm season grass person like myself, the idea of a mixed grass lawn is a nightmare. In the cool season areas, mixed lawns are done for a good reason. Back in the old days, I heard about lawns being pure stands of a named cultivar of KBG, the maintenance on those was much like what I need to do on warm season grass.
