I am a new homeowener and never had a sprinkler system and I need a quick answer as I am sure its a simple problem. I have had for a second time left my house and found my second out of four zones still running after starting two hours previously. When I turn the Toro ECX timer to the OFF position, the sprinklers shut down.

My question is, is this a timer problem or a dirty or stuck valve problem.

    This is a timer problem.

I'm not familiar with Toro controllers, but I'd check the programming to make
sure you don't have a "phantom" start time. In controllers that have multiple
start times & multiple programs, this happens quite often. "Pilot error".

Sounds like classic controller or program problem. If a programmer problem we'll send Jon right away.
