Ok guys, its about time for a new stick edger and I was contemplating what brand to go with. Looking at Stihl, Redmax, and Shindaiwa.

I have owned 2 before. A Ryobi home owner that lasted 1 1/2 seasons befor the cable broke, which wasnt bad because I really abused this machine. I replaced it with a Stihl fs85 with an Edger head on it. I liked the dual wheels on the Stihl and also others told me that the Stihl didnt clog up like others. Im pleased with the Stihl and it only takes a few minutes to convert it to a trimmer or brush cutter. Oh , some of the Stihl units have a solid drive shaft where as most of the others have a cable, the drive shaft is the way to go, just my 2 cents worth

I think that the solid drive shafts are on the fs85's and up stihl models. When they made the fs 85's.

Stihl all the way, great dealer support, and a quality product.

Thats what i thought too. I wish i knew that they were gonna get rid of the 85 because i really like mine. Oh well, ill just get the 110. The 4mix is suppose to be really awsome, just what ive heard. Oh, from what ive heard on here, i would get a stihl edger!

You can buy an Stihl FS80 and replace the cable drive with a solid shaft. That's the only difference between the FS80 and the FS85.

For your question............we only use Stihl.
