Good grief, that looks like a CL class pvc pipe, for GAS? WTF... Not here, not even in FL are they that frigging stupid, older gas lines run in steel pipes, new ones in some sort of composit and must be yellow.
newer gas mains around here are fusion welded with plastic pipe 2" to 4" or so for mains. houses usually have 3/4" poly (yellow) with tracer wire. older homes have 3/4" steel pipe.
There searching a 5 mile radius for anymore leaks . I don't know what kind of pipe it was but I believe a downed tree from yesterday's/today's wind/rain storm caused the leak.. At least that's what they said on the tv news.. they don't say it on this link
