Porcelain tiles over concrete patio

    We just did a slate tile over a concrete slab. I will get some pics and post them.

    Never done porcelain but bluestone, granite, stone flagging etc we do quite often

    I would not tile directly to the slab with regular thin set. I would recommend an uncoupling membrane and a lightly modified thin set for the membrane and for the tiles. I like Versa Bond. Made by Custom.

    I also like Schluter "Ditra." for the membrane. http://www.schluter.com

    If the condition of the slab is very good and you decide to go directly to slab, I would use something a bit more flexible -- Flex bond, maybe.
