Ok guys. I am looking at a 2005 Silverado 1500HD 4x4 with 3.73 gears ls package. It has 71,000 miles on it and I am thinking about buying it. Its at a local dealer and they are asking $17,203. How much would you offer them for the truck? I know the previous owner (my JD dealer I bought the 727A from last year and also my 2nd cousin) He traded in for a 07. I've talked with him and he said its nothing wrong with it and is a great truck. Will pull anything I want and has the ability to stop it. I will be towing a 6x10 open trailer, 727A (1,200lbs), trimmer, edger, blower, 21inch, and gas cans. The current truck I have now is a 1999 Nissan Frontier V6 4x4 with 108,000 miles. It pulls my set up ok but just shifts in and out of gears a lot. On the highway, its hard to keep at 65 to 70MPH. Let me know what ya'll would offer the dealer.

I would offer no more than $15,000, and if employees at the JD dealership ever drove it, or it transported equipment for the dealer I would pass and look for somthing else. I'am in Wisconsin so prices might be diffrent there though. Those are nice trucks!

I never buy from a dealership. You know they are making a profit and also charge sales tax. You could probably find a similar truck for 15k w/ no sales tax.

I bought a 2005 1500(light duty) 4x4 with 20,000 miles on it late last year, and got it for ~$14500. It is the work truck, no power windows or power locks. Hope that gives you an idea.

I'd offer no more then $15,000. For that price though you could find a used 3/4 ton around here.

I would like to get atleast $5,000 trade in on the frontier. That way I only finance $10,000.

That price sounds a little high, but keep in mind that a 1500HD is not really a 1/2 ton truck. It has an 8600 GVWR and 8-lug wheels and shares many components like frame, engine and transmission with the 2500HD.
