told the lco that I wanted to go lower so he took it down a notch but he told me the lower he goes the burn risk gets higher. dave... do I need to wait about another month or so before I topdress. This lawn is lumpy as hell and looks like crap the lower you go. Im trying to get down to I guess 0.75-1.25.

Wait until next season inJune to topdress. In order to topdress you need to take the lawn down to 1/2 inch...in this heat it will likely not recover before winter dormancy.

Chris and Dave how do you like your tru cut? is it a 20 or 27? I want a locke but i cant justify 4500 dollars for a 30" mower. I know the locke is far superior but i just don't have that kind of budget to purchase a mower for my yard and one bank. Also do i need to aerate this fall and when do i need to sand. I have lots of questions for you to be honest.

I had a C27 Tru Cut and it did fine.
Chris has (2) 20" homeowner models, but get what you can afford, go on craigs list, there are a lot of used ones for sale.
No you don't need to aerate Bermuda this time of year, wait until May right before you topdress.
The turf is going into dormancy now, so go along with it and enjoy the fall weather.

dave for some reason everytime i mow my front yard it turns brown. I know that the base of bermuda is brown and just the tips are green foilage. How do i change that. Do i just go ahead and mow LOW and let it look awefull and then let it come back or what? i mean it hardly even grows. It is getting plenty of water and sun just seems like it isn't growing much at all. Also i just picked up a new bank that was just built it is Emerald zoysia. They let it get deep enough to engulf my flip flop and foot almost. Do i need to just mow it down and forget the 1/3 rule? I mean yeah it is gonna yellow but hey it is there fault. Also it is really lumpy. And when i say really i mean REALLY lumpy. If i can get them to topdress next year is it going to make it smooth enough to mow with a reel? Also when is the best time to top dress, mid summer? I have been looking at so many trucuts on craigslist and i dunno what i am looking at. Are the commercial units much different from the home owners units? i mean 2 yards mowed twice a week?

Oh and there was a used locke on there the other day i emailed the guy as soon as i saw it which was 5 days ago. The guys didn't reply until today saying that he sold it YESTERDAY for 1000 bucks. I was SO mad. I priced a new CL-130 and i think it was 3400 or 3200 cant really remember. What does a new Trucut run?

    There are 3 trucut models

H-homeowner single front and rear wheels
P-professional (I have this one) dual front wheels and single rears
C-commercial (dual front and rear wheels)

if you can find a good one get a Locke, but don't be afraid of a trucut...they are great reels. If you are interested in buying one of mine let me know.
