I had a very good customer of mine ask that I spread powdered lime on her yard. She has heard and ol' wives tale that it could help deter moles. Is this true? I am spreading it this week either way.

How do you spread powdered lime? I have a drop spreader. how thick do you apply it?

What is the danger of too much lime? If your soil is alkaline already and you put down a thick coating of lime, you could ruin the lawn... I've stopped adding lime altogether, because I had an extra bag one time and figured it couldn't hurt, but it did...

I doubt that lime would deter moles. Drop spreader is the way to go. charge for your hourly rate plus materials.

Don't forget to explain that Talparid is available, and it has a good track record. And the cost would be less since not much labor time is involved.
