Is it safe to put a pre-emergent down prior to seeding? I have a customer that wants a his yard renovated (aerated, top dress, seed, fert.,&get rid of all broadleaf). Just want to know if it will have any effect on germination of grass seed.I'm planning on using a Tall Fescue seed.

PreM will stop the seed from germinating. You might try a postM prior to seeding. This would take care of the weeds already in the lawn. I may be wrong, but your best bet may be to spray for weeds and not use granular. Most liquids will indicate when you can put down seed after spraying.

Wait until fall to renovate. Hire someone to provide weed control.

You're right. Fall is the best time. Around here it's most likely to late in the season to do renovation.

Tupersan is what you will want to use if your going to be seeding.
