Put down Scotts Turf Builder with Halts in mid to late April(Northern NY). I have alot of bare patches all over the yard( Vole damage/weeds/etc.). Can I seed this year? If I understand pre-emergents correctly, they just form a barrier that nothing will grow through...is this correct? If I turn over the soil, can I seed? Can I sod the bare patches? Will the pre-m in the Scotts actually kill the weed seeds that might still be in the grass/ground, so that I won't need to apply Halts again next year...or do I need to apply Halts every year? If I need to apply Halts every year, then when can I seed/reseed/overseed?

Apply your Pre-M every year when soil temps are consistantly 50 degrees for 7 days straight (when the Forsythia blooms fall). Temps will be higher along side walks, blacktop, etc. This product supposedly lasts 4 months. I would neither re-seed or sod until late summer. This is a better time anyway due to cooler temps.
