I will be planting 11 burberry shrubs. just wondering what everyone would charge for that. Reason why I am asking is the business I am doing it for jumped at the price. Here is breakdown. The shrubs were 29.00 each and I get a 35% discount from that. With my time and travel and having a employee do all the planting I came in at $415.00.
Too cheap.Shrubs alone will cost you $207.35 With discount, any sales tax?And you shouldnt pass that along to the customer. So really $ 319.00 for shrubs, that leaves you $96.00 and you still have to pay employee, gas, other overhead, etc. Any gaurentee?
My cost for Crymson Barberry is $15 plus tax. My total install cost is $44. So 11 X $44 = $484 (plus $25 delivery fee for jobs under $500) So grand total cost to customer is $509
We mark materials up 150% after tax. For plant we charge between 165 & 175% with a markup depending on what it is. Barberry are extremely hardy so I'll say 165% with one year plant guarantee.
Therefore my plant material will be 367, assuming two yards of mulch that would be an additional $160 (installed), then I'll assume 2 men, two hours at 40 per hour. So my cost would be around 700 without knowing traveling cost and the like.
Well,I just low balled that one on one of my regular customers. Thanks all for your insight and explaination on why you charge what you charge.
