Hello, Pricing a job for laying about 2,000 sq ft of sod and planting approximately 60 shrubs and 30 trees. Ground is flat and leveled. Owner of the company estimates 2 to 3 guys about 3 days. What do you all think and how much would you estimate. Kinda new at doing these type jobs, I mainly do Hydroseeding and Maintenance but want to grow into doing this type work but dont want to get screwed right off. All materials will be furnished by the company, this will be charge for labor only.

    Thanks,
    Daren

We normally get $1/yd for laying sod and 2000 sq. ft. converted to yds. is 222.22 sq. yds. This price doesn't include any prep work. As far as the shrubs I price per size of plant. We normally buy 3 gallon plants and install them for approx. $10/piece. Tree prices also vary depending upon size. For large trees we normally just double the price of the tree.

    Hope this helps a little.

    ok, here' a dumb question.
Does the $1/yd include the sod price or is that just your labor rate?

The wholesale price for sod here is $0.30 per SF, or $2.70 per SY. Installation costs vary widely depending on soil being brought in, grading, access, company reputation, and other prep work.

we get anywhere from .75 to.90 cents per sq. ft. this includes all labor to set the ground. soil conditioner, starter fert, lime, sod ,and the install. we are paying .18 cents a sq. ft. for sod.
