I've been checking around and pricing Scag and Exmark. I figured I'd share the price quotes I've gotten so far so that someone else may use it for reference. I've checked four different Scag dealers and three different Exmark dealers. It seems prices will vary by where you are located so I guess I should mention that I live in Northern Virginia on the outskirts of Washington, DC. These are fleet prices, three machines minimum. They are the lowest prices I've found so far.

    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 29 Kohler EFI - $9,200.00
    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 29 Kawasaki L/C DFI - $10,800.00
    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 35 Briggs - $9,400.00

    Exmark S series 60", 29 Kohler EFI - $9,090.00
    Exmark X series 60", 34 Kohler EFI - $10,670.00

Which one's are you thinking about? I really like Exmark better but Those are really good Scag prices.. Hard to beat that Turf Tiger with the 35 briggs...

I'm a scag guy but don't base buying solely on price. Think about the price difference and spread it over the hrs you will run the mower. Its not much difference that way.

I was just saying, saving like $3800 and gonna have one of the best mowers on the market.. That right there is enough to make someone want to switch brands & that's coming from a true Exmark guy...

The five I listed are the machines I'm going to demo over the next month. I'm currently leaning towards two 29 Kohler EFI Turf Tigers and one 35 Briggs Turf Tiger with all of them being 61". I've always owned Toro and Exmark but I'm thinking it might be time to change it up. But you never know, if I demo them and like the Exmark better, I may have to stay with Exmark. I've never owned or drove a new gen Exmark or Toro.

I gotta say Exmark gets a lot of grief over their prices but if you compare the prices I was given, they're right with Scag and maybe even cheaper. I mean, you can get a top-of-the-line Exmark X series 34 Kohler EFI for cheaper than a Turf Tiger Kaw 29 DFI L/C. Or you can get an Exmark S series 60" Kohler 29 EFI cheaper than a Turf Tiger with the same exact engine. And it's not like the S series is the economy line. The S series is your standard Lazer Z.

    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 29 Kohler EFI - $9,200.00
    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 29 Kawasaki L/C DFI - $10,800.00
    Scag Turf Tiger 61", 35 Briggs - $9,400.00

    Exmark S series 60", 29 Kohler EFI - $9,090.00
    Exmark X series 60", 34 Kohler EFI - $10,670.00

The s series is a 10mph mower compared to the 12mph tt w/29 kohler. Same price, big difference in production.

If you buy every 2 to 3 yrs base it on the deck cut. If you own them longer the scag is built to last longer.

Unfortunately, that's incorrect. The 29 Kohler Scag is 10.5 mph. I wish it were 12 mph. I do believe the Scag is a more heavy duty machine. I'm leaning Scag ...but we'll see.

Can you actually mow at 12 mph?

Sorry about that, in the past its 29hp or greater had 12mph. That kohler must be low on torque.

Depending on mowing conditions yes, going back to the truck, yes. It saves a bunch of time.
