I'm just getting started in the lawn care business, and was curious what you guys would charge for these lawns. Just doing mowing and trimming. :help:

First lawn is 60' x 250' with trees on one side that need to be trimmed around and five large trees in various locations in the center of the yard. The second is approx. 4 acres, only three trees to go around.

    Thanks for the help.

Between $50.00 and $500.00. We need more info, like a photo or 2? What kind of equipment do you have? Etc

both of the lots are pretty much flat ground, no obstacles such as fences to worry about getting equipment through. I only have a 48 inch lawn tractor right now, but I might be buying a used Dixie Chopper machine with a 60" cut this week. As far as trimmers I have Ryobi & John Deere straight shaft's, also a 22" JD push mower.

As I said, I'm just getting started at this, It'll be just my wife and I doing the work for now.

The first one would be $40.
I don't have any four acre yards but for an acre I charge between $50 and $80 depending on the complexity of it.

When I lived in Michigan (Canton) the going rate for 15,000 square feet was $30-$35. That was in 2003. The prices are probably a little higher now, but not much. A full acre would bring $50-$55, but there were guys that would cut large properties for $45 per acre for anything over 3 acres. These guys were using wide area mowers and could cut large properties very quickly so they were tough to compete with using smaller equipment.

Even with a 60 inch mower, you would be wise to stick to smaller properties. I personally don't even bid on properties much larger than 2 acres. Most of the large properties in Michigan are handled by either big LCO's with multiple crews or solo guys with wide area mowers.

Good luck in your new business.
