I have a Victa 4216HX (rebadged Murray) with a Peerless 205-024C transaxle. I reversed,then went forward and had the motor stall with clouds of smoke from the drive belt. I can still reverse but forward gives loud noises and vibration. After removing the belt I found that I can turn the transmission pulley when holding the pedal in reverse but when held in forward the input shaft starts to bind after one or two turns. It is a gradual but quick tightening. It does not feel like it jams on a broken part, just binds up. I have searched for an internal view online but cannot find anything. Can you suggest what the problem might be?
