Homeowner to a new Scag Cheetah (Kawasaki 31hp, 61" deck)

I tried searching this site, but failed. At what throttle speed are you engaging the clutch button. I tried various speed positions, but nothing sounded or felt right.

I run Dixie Chopper and First time owning a Electric button engager at full throttle I can break belts

I start mine at 1/2 throttle

Maybe some scag owners will help

I always engage my walkbehinds at 1/2 to 5/8 throttle and disengage at idle. I engage my Lazer at 1/2 to 5/8 throttle and disengage at 1/2 throttle. But its quick. I slame the trottle to half and engage and quickly slam it to idle or half and disengage. I don't wait around for the motor to completely level out. I think its VERY important to disengage at a lower speed also. I can make my clutches last a long time.

Skag wildcat for 8 years, always engaged at about 1/3 throttle. Disengage at idle.
New Turf Tiger 29 kohler EFI engage at 1/2 throttle. Disengage at idle.

Engage: as low as possible without stalling the engine ~ 3/8, (reduces clutch wear)
    Disengage: idle (reduces clutch wear)
