I live in northern MN. I would like to install a natural grass putting green in the yard. We have bentgrass greens in the area. Are there newer types of grass I should be looking at that are more tolerant to fungus, watering, etc. that I could use in this climate and would be easier to maintain. Where would I find the seeds?

    Thanks, Rick

Bentgrass is the only real choice. I've seen a lot of people build greens they thought they wanted. Typically the fun goes away before the end of the first year maintaining it. Having said that, as a former GC sup, I have one planned for phase II of my new lawn complete with an elevated tee box giving about a 90yd shot. Seed can be sourced through the golf course suppliers. Not sure if the names are the same nowadays, but I used to get a lot of stuff from Precision Turf and Chemical just outside the twin cities, as well as North Star Turf, and Turf Supply co.

Good luck with a bentgrass green and the maintenance that goes along with it.
