I am from Long Island NY and it is my first year in the lawn business. I have 15 accounts and I think want to go legal so I don't get into trouble. What do i need in Long Island NY to go legal? Do i need insurance and a license? Is it worth the money or is it better to stay illegal? Thanks for everyone's input :)

I am new as well, but it depends if you are in Nassau or Suffolk where you will need to apply for licensing. We fall under a Home Improvement license and in Nassau it takes a few months, where in Suffolk you go in and take a test and get the licensing right away. Either way you need proof of liability insurance which will run you about $800 a year.

    Good Luck!
