I woke up this morning and when I went out to walk the dog, there were little white insects all over my driveway, garbage can and in my mulch. Any idea on what they might be? It rained here for the first time in two weeks and I have large mulch chips in flower beds surrounding my driveway. I don't believe they are termites. They are about one inch long and have the worm texture but white in color.

Dude -- they're maggots. They're probably coming from the garbage can. Flys lay eggs in there.

    damn that's gross!

uh...unless they are meal worms and in that case they are great fish bait.

gather as many meal worms as you can and freeze them.

fish don't care if they are alive or not.

wild bluebirds love them so much they will eat them out of your hand.

Just so you know --- it doesn't take maggots long to hatch. My guess is you'll be seeing them every week if you go out early enough. Until it gets cold anyway.
