today I went to give a bid at a lady's house. She's wants some new cypress trees planted and a new oak and a few small shrubs as well as have me maintain her yard all summer. My problem is that she already has several flower beds but several of the plants aren't looking great. The soil in her area is mostly clay. Not all of her plants are looking bad just a few. Is there anything that you guys can recommend doing to improve there appearence? Can I just areate around the bottom and use regular fertilizer (10-10-10 or something)? I haven't really been faced with anything like this and no we don't have any liscence for chemicals or anything like that but I really want this account as it's the first house in a corner lot of big, big fancy neighborhood.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would just replace the bad plants. I would charge her on a per hour basis, and of course she would pay for all plant purchases. I doubt the fertilizer would help much.
