as you may see from my signature, my company's name is Better Grass Lawn and Landscaping Co. I just realized when i was looking at one of my invoices, that my name may be improper english. should it be landscaping co, or should it be better grass lawn and landscape co.

i know some of you guys have english degrees or just really know what your talking about so if you could help me out with this that would be great

    Well sir,

I don't have an English degree but I would say Better Lawn, Grass and Landscaping Co. or Inc. if you are incorporated. Actually, you can't say Co. unless you are incorporated, I believe.

I have had it a lot of times where associations and other people that I order things from changes my business name to landscape, instead of landscaping and it makes me so make. I say go with what works for you

I don't have an english degree, but I like the way it sounds as landscape instead of landscaping. IMO landscaping is an activity or what you do whereas landscape company is who you are. Landscape as opposed to landscaping, lends itself to a broader range of activities, ie design, material sales, maintenance, as well as installation.

No English degree here but I can tell you that landcaping is an action verb I think it also qualifies as a gerund(verb w/ing ending). The average shmo (technical term) isn't going to know and if you're already incorated why go to the hassle of changing your name on everything. I had to look at your post a couple of times myself to see what was really in question.

BTW- A twist on Envy's suggestion..." Better Lawns and Landscapes" ...kind of a familar ring to it, huh??
